Lakeland is gearing up for its annual Fall Yard Sale on September 28th, 2024, celebrating a decade of community bargains and hidden treasures. Following in the footsteps of its springtime sibling, this event is set to bring together between 100 and 200 homes, each eager to declutter and offer some fantastic finds.

Want to join the fun and make a little extra cash? It’s easier than ever. All you need to do is get your address listed by emailing Wesley Wright at wwright@lakelandtn.org.

Weather in late September can be a wildcard, but historically, it’s been pretty comfortable—perfect for a morning of browsing. And don’t worry about rain: even when the skies have opened up in the past, the show has gone on. That said, there’s no backup date, so fingers crossed for sunshine!

Pro tip for sellers: Get those signs out early, and make sure they’re down by Monday. Although the main event is on Saturday, you’ll find many eager beavers starting as early as Friday morning. Most sales wind down by 2 p.m. on Saturday, so aim to be set up by 7 a.m. if you want to catch the morning crowd.

Success stories from past years include neighbors teaming up for mega-sales and using creative, eye-catching signs to draw in more shoppers. This isn’t just a chance to get rid of those unused items cluttering your home; it’s also a golden opportunity to snag some great deals from your fellow Lakeland residents.

Oh, and here’s a little bonus: This year’s sale coincides with Lakeland’s Community Cleanup Day. So, while you’re making a few bucks, you can also declutter your life and contribute to a cleaner, greener Lakeland. Happy selling (and shopping)!
